Compatibility taboo of feed additives

2021-10-09

Adding some feed additives to livestock and poultry feed can promote growth, increase the output of meat, milk and eggs, reduce feed consumption and prevent and cure diseases. However, some feed additives cannot be used at the same time.

1. Choline cannot be used at the same time as some vitamins, calcium and phosphorus.

Choline is soluble in water, strong in alkalinity, and can destroy water-soluble vitamins such as vitamin C, vitamin B, vitamin K1, vitamin K2 and pantothenic acid. In addition, phosphorus and calcium are easily absorbed in acidic environment, but little in alkaline environment. Therefore, choline cannot be added together with calcium powder, calcium hydrogen phosphate, etc.

2. Vitamin B1 cannot be used with penicillin at the same time.

Because the aqueous solution of vitamin B1 is weakly acidic, it will destroy the efficacy of penicillin.

3. Ferrous sulfate, ferrous chloride and ferrous sulfide cannot be used together with vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E and vitamins B1 and B2.

If used at the same time, the former will accelerate the oxidative damage process of the latter.

4. Calcium carbonate should not be used with vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin C, vitamin K1, vitamin K2, pantothenic acid, streptomycin and oxytetracycline at the same time.

Because calcium carbonate is strongly alkaline, in alkaline environment, the above-mentioned vitamins and other additives are easily destroyed.

5. Oxytetracycline cannot be used with penicillin and streptomycin at the same time.

Because oxytetracycline is very acidic, it can destroy the disease prevention and growth promotion effects of penicillin and streptomycin.
